Kidsline

Kidsline was New Zealand's telephone helpline for children and young people, unique for being staffed by trained secondary-school-aged volunteer counsellors ("Kidsline Buddies") — the only national child helpline in the world run this way. It operated 24/7 and relied entirely on public donations, receiving no government funding.

In January 2021, Kidsline merged into Barnardos NZ's 0800 What's Up service, which is now Aotearoa's only national children's helpline (0800 942 8787), run by trained professional counsellors rather than teen volunteers.
